Rocket Exchange on the Lebanon-Israel Border

Hezbollah launched rockets from inside Lebanon into Israeli military sites on Saturday within territories occupied by Israel. Israel retaliated by firing artillery shells in response.

Our correspondent reported rocket launches at the Israeli site in the hills of Kafr Shuba within the Shebaa Farms, which Lebanon claims as part of its territory occupied by Israel since the 1967 war.

The Israeli army responded with artillery shelling towards the sources of the fire inside Lebanese territory.

Later, Hezbollah issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attack.

It stated that its militants targeted five Israeli military sites using "guided rockets and mortar shells, causing precise and direct hits." Since the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, the northern front has flared up, witnessing almost daily clashes starting with shelling into Israel and infiltration operations.

The Lebanese army stated that Israeli forces fired a shell that killed Reuters photographer Issam Abdullah and injured six others in Alma Shaab. The Israeli artillery strike targeted where deployed journalists were covering events in southern Lebanon amid heightened tensions.
