Clashes Erupt After Armed Infiltration from Lebanon into Israel

 

   Our correspondent has reported rocket launches from the vicinity of Tyre in southern Lebanon, amid reports of clashes between Hezbollah and the Israeli army in the Dhayra region.

The Israeli army stated in a release, "Continuing from the initial reports, units of the Israel Defense Forces killed several armed individuals who crossed the border into Israeli territory from Lebanese territory. Soldiers are currently conducting sweeps in the area, and helicopters are carrying out airstrikes in the region. Further details will follow."

Earlier on Sunday, Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah exchanged artillery and missile fire, following a day of the largest and deadliest Palestinian militant attack on Israel in years. Hezbollah announced on Sunday that it launched guided missile strikes and artillery shells at three locations in the Shebaa Farms "in solidarity" with the Palestinian people.

The Lebanese army stated that shells and rockets were fired from southern Lebanon onto the "occupied Lebanese territories," without specifying the party responsible for the launch. Israel's retaliatory fire resulted in a number of casualties.

The statement published on the X platform mentioned that army units were deployed along the southern Lebanese border.
