Suffering and Israel's Appeal for Evacuation: Gaza Hospitals Under Duress... Power Crisis Worsens Suffering as Israel Seeks Evacuation

According to Palestinian medical sources, the Israeli army has requested the evacuation of multiple hospitals in Gaza City and the northern region on the eighth day of intense conflict. In response, thousands of Palestinians have fled southward after being warned to leave their homes, indicating potential preparations for a ground offensive.

While Gaza's hospitals have always been vulnerable, the current situation has heightened their vulnerability, particularly due to equipment shortages, the blockade preventing fuel from entering the region, power outages, and the deliberate targeting of medical teams by Israeli forces. These factors have exacerbated the strain on resources, with casualties mounting and options severely limited.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society disclosed that it received an order from Israeli forces, setting a new deadline for the evacuation of Al-Quds Hospital, expiring at 13:00 GMT (16:00 local time). Similarly, the management of Al-Awda Governmental Hospital in northern Gaza has received official notices from the Israeli military, demanding the complete evacuation of the hospital, including all patients and the injured.

Hamas issued a statement condemning "the occupation's demand for the evacuation of medical teams from Al-Awda Hospital, reflecting the malevolent intentions towards our people."

The international community has appealed for urgent intervention to halt the enemy's reprehensible agenda of targeting hospitals. Kamal Adwan Hospital, one of the largest medical facilities in northern Gaza, also received evacuation orders, which the hospital director adamantly refused, stating that "this is a death sentence for dozens of patients, given Gaza's dire circumstances."

Children have borne the brunt of Israeli airstrikes, with a UNICEF spokesperson confirming the tragic loss of over 700 children's lives since the commencement of the Israeli bombardment in Gaza. The United Nations has called for the safeguarding of Gaza's children under international humanitarian law, citing the disastrous humanitarian situation in the region, particularly for its young population. The UN stressed the urgent need for humanitarian corridors to facilitate aid delivery to affected families.

The Ministry of Health reported that Israel's attacks resulted in the forced evacuation of Al-Durra Children's Hospital in eastern Gaza, with patients and medical staff relocated to Al-Nasser Children's Hospital following an assault with phosphorus bombs.

This incident marks the second hospital incapacitated in Gaza, among a total of eight hospitals, following the targeting of Beit Hanoun Hospital by Israeli forces.

As thousands of displaced Gazans seek refuge in hospital compounds, they face numerous challenges, notably the scarcity of medical supplies and equipment. The blockade preventing the entry of fuel, coupled with frequent power outages, has intensified the hardships for the residents. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant's declaration of a "complete siege" on the Gaza Strip has effectively cut off electricity, food, water, and gas, exacerbating the already dire situation.

He also emphasized the critical shortage of medical equipment and devices due to the ongoing Gaza blockade.
