“Agenda” of Summit of 78th Session of United Nations General Assembly



 The summit of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly begins tomorrow, Tuesday. The work of this session includes the Sustainable Development Goals Summit, the Global Finance Summit, and 3 high-level meetings on health, climate, and youth, in addition to a special meeting of the UN Security Council next Wednesday regarding Ukraine.

This session witnesses the first personal appearance of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the United Nations since the start of the Ukrainian war in February of last year, while the presidents and leaders of Russia, China, Britain, and France are absent.

Zelensky will address the General Assembly tomorrow, Tuesday, and the Security Council the next day.

Other high-level meetings during the week will include health-related topics; Such as epidemic prevention, preparedness and response, universal health coverage, and the global fight against tuberculosis, as well as the Climate Ambition Summit held by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and preparations at the ministerial level to hold the Future Summit one year from now.

It will also examine how the United Nations has an influential role in regulating technical progress - such as the dilemma of artificial intelligence - and how these technologies, and the economies surrounding them, can best enhance human well-being.

Sustainable Development Goals Summit will take place on September 18-19, when world leaders will meet to evaluate the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan. World leaders will adopt the pivotal political declaration of the Sustainable Development Goals Summit after arduous and turbulent negotiations. The declaration seeks to provide guidance on “transformative and accelerated actions” for all countries achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.


Ministerial Meeting of the Future Summit, on September 21, aims to set the final points before the Future Summit, which will be hosted by New York next year, which aims to reaffirm the United Nations Charter, revitalize multilateralism, enhance the implementation of existing commitments, agree on concrete solutions to challenges, and restore confidence between... Member States.


Climate Action Summit, September 20. This summit, held by United Nations Secretary-General Guterres, aims to mobilize new momentum for effective climate action, among representatives of governments, companies, finance, local authorities, and civil society.
