In Moscow, a Russian lawyer was attacked with green dye.

A lawyer from Russia was assaulted and splashed with green antiseptic dye while waiting at a bus stop in Moscow on Thursday.

Yelena Ponomareva, 46, claimed that she suffered from second-degree chemical eye burns as a result of the unidentified attacker's actions.

A picture uploaded by her colleague revealed that Ponomareva was completely covered in the green antiseptic, which is widely known in Russia as zelyonka, including her head, arms, and gown.

According to the independent legal news outlet Advokatskaya Ulitsa, Ponomareva had been placed under state protection after previous assaults.

Ponomareva shared on Facebook that she had previously received threats related to her professional work before.

She didn't specify which activity had made her the target of attack. She also posted a photo of her vandalized car on which white paint was spread, and its tires were punctured.

Moscow region bar association, which reported the assault, critiqued law enforcement's lack of action.

Meanwhile, in Chechnya, another journalist named Yelena Milashina suffered a similar attack.

Zelyonka, a green antiseptic that has become widespread in Russia, was used in both incidents. Alexei Navalny and Dmitry Muratov have also faced assaults with zelyonka.
