Kremlin: Washington and Kyiv do not want a political settlement in Ukraine.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced today, Friday, that Washington and Kyiv do not want a political and diplomatic settlement in Ukraine.
As Peskov told reporters, there are no prospects for starting a negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine, indicating that Moscow does not close the door to such an opportunity.
Commenting on the statements of the Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko, he said that peace talks on Ukraine could begin by the fall: “At various levels, including the highest ones, we have said that the Russian side has not closed the door to the negotiation process, but so far we do not see any prospects for a process this negotiation.
The Kremlin also said that it would "closely follow" the talks that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who will arrive in Turkey in the evening, will hold with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Turkish President Erdogan's "mediating role" in the Ukrainian conflict was praised by Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who said: "We will closely follow the results of the negotiations and we will continue our constructive partnership with Ankara."
Vladimir Putin and Erdogan may speak shortly, according to Dmitry Peskov, although no specific time has been arranged.
Erdogan made an effort to intervene and settle the conflict by utilizing his positive relationships with both Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
