Storm "Ciaran" hits southern England and causes this damages:

The storm Siaran brought strong winds and heavy rains, causing major disruptions in southern England on Thursday, with the suspension of maritime transport for several hours from the port of Dover and the closure of hundreds of schools.

In Jersey, which was placed on red alert, wind speeds reached 160 kilometers per hour, forcing 35 people to stay in hotels due to the damage to their homes, according to local police. Additionally, all schools and government buildings in Jersey were closed, with authorities advising residents to stay in their homes.

It was expected that wind speeds in the morning would reach between 100 and 110 kilometers per hour, and up to 100 kilometers per hour in the afternoon, according to the government's weather report.

At the airports of Jersey, Guernsey, and Alderney, all flights were canceled.

Crossings between England and France across the English Channel were suspended for most of the morning, while the port of Dover warned of expected delays in the coming hours.

The port recommended on the "X" website that passengers contact their ferry company for information.

In Cornwall, which was placed on an orange alert due to the strong winds, electricity was cut off to more than 8,500 homes, according to local authorities.

Another orange warning is in effect in southeastern England for strong winds until midday.

Floods are also expected at 54 locations, mostly on the southern coast of England, according to the Environment Agency.
