Gaza War: Social Media Becomes a Record for Documenting the Killing of Entire Families

Since the first day of the Israeli military operation, "Operation Iron Swords," in Gaza, residents of the Strip have turned to social media platforms to report Israeli airstrikes.

As the military campaign intensified in Gaza, making it difficult for journalists to continue working, and with near-complete power outages, online platforms became a means of documenting the extent of destruction, the number of casualties, and even their names.

People in the region record their testimonies amid a looming threat of a complete loss of internet access and electricity, with uncertainty about when they might lose the ability to communicate with each other and the outside world.

On the sixth day of the military operation, the number of Palestinian casualties due to Israeli airstrikes in Gaza rose to 1,203, with 5,763 injured, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

According to testimonies from Gaza residents, particularly on the X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook platforms, Israel destroyed entire densely populated residential blocks, resulting in the deaths of entire families during intense aerial and ground bombardments.
