Ukraine seeks to build a new army in every way

Russian newspaper Gazeta revealed that Ukraine is seeking to bring in its citizens who fled the country after the launch of the "Russian military operation" and chose European countries as a refuge, to create a new army.

The newspaper reported that Ukraine is doing this as part of its military mobilization plan because it lacks sufficient military personnel.

In this regard, the Russian newspaper recalled an article by former Pentagon officer Stephen Bryan, which he recently published on the Asia Times website, in which he explained that Kyiv is making large-scale efforts to build a new army of 500,000 soldiers by 2025.

According to the Gazeta report, the mobilization plan has become visible since politicians began demanding that law enforcement agencies hand over Ukrainians of military service age who crossed the border illegally to escape the mobilization.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had ordered a review of all conscription exemption orders issued by military commissions after February 24 last year.

According to the Central Directorate of Border Guards, in the period between February 24, 2022, and August 31, 2023, 2.87 million Ukrainians - between the ages of 18 and 60 - entered Poland, which for about 2.8 million Ukrainian citizens served as a bridge to reach European countries.

Because of this, the Polish authorities cannot find 80,000 men of military service age.

The newspaper reported that a member of the Parliamentary Committee for National Security, Defense, and Ukrainian Intelligence, Feder Venislavsky, had previously stated that it was possible to mobilize these 80,000 people, suggesting that law enforcement officers would soon begin pursuing Ukrainian citizens abroad, as some of them had fled illegally.

Moreover, middlemen who help people cross the border are regularly arrested on the Dnipro River.

The Russian newspaper, citing The Economist, said that many Ukrainians resort to several tricks to avoid conscription, such as claiming guardianship over people with special needs even if they do not need help, or entering into arranged marriages with people with special needs, or getting a fictitious divorce. Full custody of the children, or registration to pursue studies in university institutions.

Given the high cost of crossing the border - illegally - to about five thousand dollars, some people are trying to find a way to get out on their own due to their inability to find money.
