Israeli media reported that about 150 people were injured - today, Saturday - during confrontations between Israeli police and hundreds of Eritrean asylum seekers in Tel Aviv.
Among the wounded were about 30 policemen, while the Tel Aviv police chief announced that the clashes were under control.
Clashes and riots broke out between Eritrean supporters and opponents residing in Tel Aviv, against the backdrop of a festival organized by their country's embassy in the city.
The clashes between the two sides were accompanied by demonstrators throwing stones, wooden boards, and garbage bags at the police. The mounted police were called to the scene, and they used stun grenades and fired into the air.
