Russian Investigative Committee: Genetic tests confirm the killing of Wagner Commander

 The Russian Investigative Committee looking into the crash of the plane, which was carrying the commander of the Wagner Armed Group Yevgeny Prigozhin, announced that the identities of the ten dead whose bodies were recovered from the wreck site "match the list" of passengers and crew members.

The committee said in a statement that the "molecular genetic tests" conducted on the bodies recovered from the crash site north of Moscow had been "completed", and said that these tests had confirmed the identities of the 10 passengers, including Prigozhin.

The statement did not address the assumptions of the causes of the plane crash during a flight from Moscow to St. Petersburg with Prigozhin and others on board from the group, which staged an armed rebellion against the Russian military leadership last June.

The Russian Aviation Authority had previously published the names of the ten people who were on board the private plane, which crashed in the Tver region, northwest of Moscow. Among its passengers were Prigozhin and his closest aide Dmitry Utkin, who helped found the Wagner Group.

And last Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that Moscow would conduct the necessary investigations into the plane crash, and said, "The investigation committee has begun its initial tasks at the site, and will continue its work until the end. We will soon see what the investigations will lead to, and this will take some time."
