Russia announced today, Sunday, that its air force carried out a successful strike on an airport in Kyiv province last night, and also took control of two strongholds of Ukrainian forces towards Kobyansk, while Ukraine said that it responded to a Russian air attack on the north and center of the country.

And the Russian Ministry of Defense said that its forces targeted, last night, an airport in the town of Pinchuki in the Kyiv province, with a high-precision weapon, and hit all the identified targets.

Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov confirmed the destruction of a radar station for detecting air targets, directing fighter jets, and targeting anti-aircraft missile systems near the city of Zaporizhia.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also stated via the Telegram application, on Sunday, that its forces shot down two drones last night in the Bryansk and Kursk regions on the border with Ukraine.

Drone attacks on Russian targets have occurred almost daily since the destruction of two drones over the Kremlin in early May. Among these targets are Crimea, which Moscow annexed in 2014, as well as areas bordering Ukraine.

For its part, the pro-Russian local authorities in Donetsk reported that six people were seriously injured, as a result of the continued shelling of the front lines in the region by the Ukrainian forces with artillery, rocket-propelled grenades, and cluster ammunition, as they put it.

The authorities added that several residential buildings and infrastructure were damaged in the region, noting that the Ukrainian forces carried out more than 70 attacks on the region, during which they fired more than 240 rocket-propelled grenades.

In another development, the spokesman for the Western forces in the Russian army, Sergey Zbinsky, said that the Russian forces took control of two strongholds of the Ukrainian forces towards Kobyansk, and added that the Russian forces repelled counter-attacks by the Ukrainian forces in the same area.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian authorities reported that two people were injured and 10 houses were damaged, as a result of the fall of shrapnel from Russian missiles that were intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses, at dawn on Sunday, on the outskirts of Kyiv.

And the military administration in Kyiv confirmed that the air defense systems repelled a Russian air attack on the outskirts of the capital, at dawn today.

The Ukrainian Air Force Command also confirmed that its air defenses destroyed 4 "cruise" missiles in central and northern Ukraine, out of 8 air targets that were monitored, and that the rest of the targets "may have been false," adding that the missiles were launched from 5 strategic bombers from inside Russian airspace.

Warnings of air strikes continued across Ukraine for about 3 hours this morning before the danger was declared over at around 6 a.m. (03:00 GMT).

On the other hand, the Guardian newspaper quoted military sources as saying that some senior officers in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) traveled a few days ago to a secret location on the Polish-Ukrainian border to meet with the Ukrainian military commander, Valery Zalogny, to help reset Ukraine's military strategy.

According to these sources, the 5-hour meeting aims to help reset Ukraine's military strategy, help it advance its counterattack, and discuss battle plans for the coming winter.

The meeting on the Polish border comes after an unannounced meeting that brought together British Admiral Tony Radkin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv with the aim of better understanding Ukraine's strategy.

In a parallel context, Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak said, in statements to a Ukrainian channel, that the current war should not only end with the restoration of Ukrainian lands to the 1991 borders but also with the destruction of the elite surrounding Putin.
