The bluebird leaves the cage... Musk turns "Twitter" into an "X"

American billionaire Elon Musk announced that the temporary “X” logo related to the “Twitter” platform will start appearing later, Sunday, in a move that experts considered a departure from the path calling for the need to preserve trademarks and their logos.

Musk said in a tweet on "Twitter", that "twitter.com" is now "X.COM", pointing out that "the temporary (X) logo will start appearing later today (Sunday)."

And The American billionaire, in a series of tweets that preceded the decision, expressed his aspiration to change the logo of the “Twitter” platform and added: “If a good logo is sent tonight for “X”, we will launch it around the world tomorrow (Sunday).

After that, Musk published an animated picture with a flashing "X" in the English language, and said in another tweet that the platform he owns "will soon deposit the Twitter brand, and gradually all the birds."

Under Musk's vocal leadership of the platform since its purchase last October, the company has changed its business name to EXCORP, reflecting the billionaire's vision of developing a "super app" on the lines of China's WeChat.

Twitter describes the current logo, a bluebird, as "our most recognizable asset" and adds: "That's why we protect it so fiercely."

Musk's plan to change the brand is a departure from the approach of many marketing experts who advocate the need to preserve trademarks and their logos, according to the American Wall Street Journal.

And the bird's logo was temporarily changed, last April, to the image of the Shiba Inu dog on the "Dogecoin" cryptocurrency, which helped increase the market value of the currency by four billion dollars.

Last Tuesday, a lawsuit was filed on Twitter alleging that the company owed at least $500 million in severance pay to former employees, marking the latest in a series of problems facing the platform.

Since Musk's acquisition, the company has laid off more than half of its workforce to cut costs.
