Nasser Al-Khelaifi's home was searched as part of an investigation into allegations of the detention of a French-Algerian businessman
The home of Paris Saint-Germain club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was searched Wednesday in France, as part of an investigation into accusations of kidnapping, detaining, and torturing a French-Algerian businessman in Qatar, a source familiar with the investigation told AFP.
"The investigative judge requested additional information, which was provided to him fully, transparently, and in full cooperation with the authorities, as was the case from the beginning," a spokesman for the French capital club said.
In response to an AFP inquiry, one of Nasser Al-Khulaifi's lawyers did not want to comment.
The inspection, which was conducted by the judicial police, came as part of a judicial investigation that opened at the end of January after Tayyeb bin Abd al-Rahman (42 years old) submitted a complaint accompanied by a civil rights claim, a procedure that makes it possible to open a judicial investigation.
In this complaint, Bin Abdulrahman confirmed his arrest in January 2020 in Qatar, where he had settled three months earlier to carry out his promotional activities for the country.
He said he was placed under house arrest and eventually allowed to leave Qatar in November 2020 after signing a confidentiality agreement pledging not to disclose these documents.
In April, Nasser Al-Khulaifi's lawyers announced their intention to file a defamation lawsuit against the businessman.
