Messi continues to shine and scores two goals for Inter Miami

Argentine star Lionel Messi continued his fiery start in the United States, scoring two goals during Inter Miami's 4-0 victory over Atlanta United, to lead his team to the knockout stages of the League Cup.

Messi, the world champion with the Argentine national team, played his first participation as a main player after he entered from the bench in the previous match and scored the winning goal in the 94th minute last Friday against Mexican Crossol.

In his first match against a team from the American League, Messi's strength seemed great to Atlanta to deal with it, and he was able to establish a promising partnership with the Finnish winger Robert Taylor, who in turn also scored two goals for Inter.

League Cup is a competition organized by the American and Mexican federations and includes all first-class clubs in the two countries. And after achieving two consecutive wins, Inter topped their group and seemed in a good position to win their first-ever titles.

Messi opened the scoring quickly after an elaborate pass from his old-new Spanish colleague Sergio Busquets, and it rebounded first off the post before Messi followed it into the net (8).

And then the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner managed to score his second goal after a partnership with Taylor (22).

Messi later turned into a goal-maker after he passed a ball to his colleague Benjamin Karimachi, who turned it into Taylor, who scored it (44).

Eight minutes after the start of the second half, Inter Miami benefited from a counterattack after delivering the ball to Messi following a corner kick for Atlanta that was cleared.

The result allowed Inter Miami's Argentine coach, Gerardo Martino, to rest Busquets and Messi, as the latter came out in the 78th minute.

Atlanta got the chance to go out to save face after a penalty kick was missed by Messi's colleague in the Argentine national team, Thiago Almada after it was saved by Miami goalkeeper Callender.

It seems that Messi's arrival will tip the scales in Miami, which has not tasted victory in its last 11 matches in the league and is bottom of the standings.
