Dozens of Russian raids on Ukrainian sites, battles, and accelerated movements in the Black Sea
Ukrainian army said that Russian forces had carried out dozens of raids on its positions during the past 24 hours, and while British intelligence said that the Russian Black Sea Fleet had modified its positions, Washington announced new military aid to Kyiv worth $400 million.
And the Ukrainian General Staff announced in a statement that the latest Russian attacks included 65 raids, as well as the firing of 84 projectiles from rocket launchers, noting that there were civilian casualties and the destruction of infrastructure in several areas.
The authority said that its forces repelled Russian attacks in the direction of Kobyansk, Liman, and Bakhmut, and indicated that 26 clashes took place along the front line.
In another development, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that a patrol ship responded to an attack by two Ukrainian boats in the Black Sea. It also announced the resumption of navigation in the Gulf of Sevastopol, after it was suspended to ensure the security of the region.
In this context, the Ukrainian Southern Operations Command said that Russia may resort to provocation by striking civilian ships in the Black Sea and blaming Ukraine. The Ukrainian Southern Operations Command suggested that Moscow would use Crimea to attack civilian ships.
British intelligence also said that the Russian Black Sea Fleet has shifted its positions since Russia's withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative in preparation for imposing a blockade on Ukraine. It added that Russia had deployed the "Sergei Kotov" ship in the southern Black Sea and carried out patrols in the shipping lane between the Bosphorus Strait and Odesa.
British intelligence indicated that the Russian ship is likely to form part of a group of missions to intercept commercial ships that Moscow believes are heading to Ukraine.
On the other hand, the Russian Foreign Ministry accused - in statements issued today - both the United States and Britain of supporting Ukrainian attacks on Russian infrastructure.
As the controversy continues over the United States' decision to provide Kyiv with cluster munitions, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Moscow reserves the right to respond if Ukraine uses these munitions.
Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a press conference that talking about peace should start with stopping the flow of weapons to Ukraine.
Zakharova added that the Ukrainian regime not only uses Western weapons to carry out what she described as terrorist acts against Russia but also shares them with terrorists and other criminals, as she put it.
Russia had threatened to take severe retaliatory measures against Kyiv after two drones damaged buildings in Moscow at dawn on Monday, while Ukraine admitted its attempt to bomb the Russian capital in what it described as a special operation.
No one was injured in the attack on buildings in Moscow, of which a senior Ukrainian official said there would be more, but one of the two planes was damaged near a building where the Russian army is providing statements about what it calls a "special military operation", a symbolic strike that confirmed the extent to which this missile could Drones access it.
On Tuesday, the United States announced new military aid to Ukraine worth $400 million, including for the first time the "Black Hornet" spy drones.
The aid - the 43rd package - includes ammunition for Patriot air defense systems and HIMARS missile launchers, in addition to artillery shells, armored vehicles, and other equipment from the US Army's stockpile, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said in a statement that this aid aims to support the Ukrainians to regain their lands.
United States has provided Ukraine with more than $43 billion in military aid since the start of the Russian war in Ukraine in February 2022.
