He described it as a "terrorist attack".. Putin vows to respond to the Crimean Bridge attack
Russian President Vladimir Putin described the Ukrainian attack on the Kerch Bridge, which connects Russia with Russian-occupied Crimea, as a "terrorist attack".
"Another terrorist attack took place on the bridge tonight," Putin said, adding that "due to the terrorist attack, the road was damaged on several stretches of the Crimean Bridge, and as a result, traffic and rail traffic were temporarily stopped."
The Russian president called on his country's authorities, including the Federal Security Service, to investigate the incident and demanded measures to secure the bridge from future strikes.
Putin promised that "Russia will respond to the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge."
"Considering that the second terrorist attack on the Crimean bridge has already begun, I am waiting for concrete proposals to improve the security of this strategically important transport facility. We discussed this morning with colleagues in detail," Putin added.
He continued: “It is necessary to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the damage and start repair work as soon as possible. Please report on how to concentrate the necessary equipment and specialists, and whether it is necessary to deploy additional forces and means.”
Earlier, a source in the Security Service of Ukraine said that the attack that took place last night was a joint operation between the State Security Department and the Ukrainian Navy.
The attack killed two people and injured their daughter while traveling by car on the bridge.
