Sisi and Biden Affirm Agreement on Priority of Protecting Civilians in Gaza



   Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and U.S. President Joe Biden affirmed in a phone call on Monday the agreement on the priority of protecting civilians and delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.


The Egyptian presidency said in a statement, "President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi received a phone call from U.S. President Joe Biden, as part of the follow-up to the results of the recent visit of the U.S. Secretary of State to Cairo, and in connection with the ongoing consultation between the two countries regarding developments in the tense regional situation and the military escalation in the Gaza Strip."


According to the spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, the two presidents agreed on the seriousness of the current situation and the importance of containing it to prevent the expansion of the conflict and the threat to regional security and stability. They also reached an understanding of the priority of protecting civilians and delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.


The two presidents discussed ongoing consultations in this regard in coordination with the United Nations, as well as the efforts to push for and revive the peace process. They agreed to continue consultations and coordination efforts in the coming period.
