Russian expert: Israel is hiding evidence of the bombing of the Baptist Hospital
According to a Russian military specialist, Israel has complete information on the bombing that occurred last Tuesday in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in hundreds of deaths and wounded people.
Igor Korotchenko clarified that Israel controls and strictly monitors the airspace over the Gaza Strip. Tel Aviv is required to furnish the material since it possesses all the information about the Baptist Hospital bombing.
The Russian expert stated, "All information regarding Gaza's airspace is registered (with Israel), and it would not be right to believe that some radio calls were intercepted and eavesdropped on," expressing surprise at the Israeli account of calls between Palestinian factions related to the incident.
He emphasized that rather than disclosing the information it knows about the hospital bombing, Israel chooses to publish some of the fictitious communications it claims to have intercepted. These are meaningless and cannot support Israel's claims that this attack is the work of certain groups active in the Gaza Strip and the surrounding area.
Korotchenko emphasized the need for an international investigation to identify the weapon used in the hospital attack, the need for investigations to be carried out on the ground, and the requirement that all information about the incident be turned over to a special committee established under the United Nations Security Council's auspices.
The Russian expert said in his opinion regarding the possibility of deciding to start the investigation, "It is clear that the West, Israel's allies, will prevent such a decision from being taken, especially the United States, Britain and France."
He added that Israel is acting on the logic of "might is right," and considered that any demand to open an international investigation requesting Western support to uncover the attack on the hospital in Gaza would be doomed to failure.
The Israeli occupation army has been attacking residential areas and important facilities in Gaza for the past two weeks. As a result, 3,785 martyrs have died and over 12,000 people have been wounded, most of them being women and children.
The Israeli strike on the Al-Ahly Baptist Hospital in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, south of Gaza City, resulted in the deaths of 500 Palestinians, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza on Tuesday. Hundreds of injured displaced people who had taken sanctuary in the area were also hurt.
However, Israeli comments on the raid alternated between confirmation and denial until the Israeli army declared that an inquiry into the hospital bombing had begun. They also claimed that the bombing was carried out by the Islamic Jihad movement.
The movement denied this, and said that "accusing it will not absolve the enemy of its responsibility for the massacre, and that the accusations promoted by the enemy are false, and the resistance does not use public facilities and hospitals as military centers, according to what the Israelis claim."
Notably, the hospital is regarded as one of the oldest in Palestine, having been established by the Church of England Missionary Society in 1882.
