Estimates suggest 1000 bodies under rubble in Gaza

 

  An official from the World Health Organization stated on Friday that the organization has received estimates that there are still 1000 bodies under the rubble in Gaza that have not been identified and accounted for in the death toll.


Richard Peppercorn, the organization's representative in the Palestinian territories, responded to a question about the number of casualties in Gaza, saying, "We also received these estimates indicating that there are still over 1000 people under the rubble who have not been identified yet."


Health authorities in Gaza state that over 7000 people were killed in the airstrikes carried out by Tel Aviv following the attacks by Hamas militants on Israel on October 7th.


U.S. President Joe Biden had stated on Wednesday that he "does not trust the accuracy of the death toll announced by the Palestinians" in the Gaza Strip. In response to the skeptical reports, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated, "The numbers provided by the ministry during previous conflicts have proven to be accurate."
