Trump Mocks Biden and Republican Rivals in California

Former U.S. President Donald Trump took aim at his potential Republican rivals for the 2024 presidential nomination, particularly Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, during the California Republican Party convention in Anaheim on Friday.

The former president stated, "I was the one who brought the red (Republican) back to Florida, not him," referring to DeSantis. He also recalled the support he provided to DeSantis during his 2018 gubernatorial campaign in Florida and emphasized, "Without me, he would have been dead."

According to a recent poll conducted by NBC News, Trump leads overwhelmingly in the Republican primary elections with 59% of the vote intentions, compared to DeSantis, his closest competitor, who garnered only 16%.

In Anaheim, Trump also described Chris Christie, the former Governor of New Jersey, as a "loser."

During the convention, Trump, who is 77 years old, once again made fun of Joe Biden's physical appearance, hoping to replace him in the White House. He told his supporters that the 80-year-old Democratic president "can't even get off the stage."

Trump is facing legal challenges in four cases, ranging from his handling of classified documents after leaving office to his alleged attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. He presents himself as a victim of what he views as Democratic-driven justice. He promised that if he were to return to power, he would initiate a comprehensive reform of the Department of Justice to "investigate every radical district attorney in America."

He also spoke about immigration, stating that he wants to "close the borders" with Mexico and launch the largest deportation operation in the country's history.

Trump did not neglect to address issues relevant to California, including water wars related to drought, the management of the homeless population, and the resumption of oil exploitation, which had been abandoned in favor of renewable energy.

Scores of his supporters waved American flags and held signs bearing his name for the 2024 elections.
