The destruction of two Ukrainian gunboats has been announced in new drone strikes against Moscow and Russia.
Drone attacks persisted in the Russian hinterland; navigation was briefly suspended at Moscow airports today, Tuesday, as fighting heated up on the Zaporizhia front in the country's south. Meanwhile, Kyiv announced the advancement of its forces there, while Moscow announced today that it had destroyed two Ukrainian gunboats in the Black Sea.
Four Ukrainian drones that attempted to attack Russian territory were shot down today, including two in the Moscow region, according to a Russian announcement.
The two marches west and northwest of the capital were intercepted by air defense systems, according to the governor of the Moscow area, and their crash damaged a residential building but did not result in any injuries.
Russian Aviation Authority, for its part, declared that flights would resume to Moscow airports after being restricted for security concerns and diverted to alternate airports.
At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that two other drones had been destroyed in the Bryansk area near the Ukrainian border.
Recently, utilizing marches, Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on the Russian rear.
In the most recent conflict in the waterway, since Moscow withdrew from a historic agreement to sell Ukrainian grain in July, Russia stated today, Tuesday, that it had destroyed two Ukrainian warships in the Black Sea.
A Ukrainian military "reconnaissance boat" was sunk by a Sukhoi SU-30 aircraft, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, in "the area of Russian gas production facilities in the Black Sea."
The attack, which occurred after the arrival of the first civilian cargo ship that sailed in the Black Sea from Ukraine to Istanbul in defiance of the Russian embargo, did not mention the type of boat that was destroyed or the location of the strike.
Later, the ministry sent a statement on Telegram regarding the demise of a second boat, stating that "A Russian armed forces plane destroyed an American-made Willard Sea-Force speedboat carrying a landing party of the Ukrainian armed forces" east of Snake Island.
And British military intelligence said today, Tuesday, that one of the drone attacks last Saturday probably destroyed a Russian supersonic long-range Tu-22M3 bomber.
She said in a regular briefing on the war in Ukraine that the attack on the bomber at the Soltsy-3 air base in the Russian province of Novgorod, 650 km from the Ukrainian border, may be at least the third successful attack on long-range airfields.
And the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that a Ukrainian drone attacked a military airport in Novgorod and caused damage to one of the bombers, without giving details, noting that its forces shot down the drone with small arms fire without causing any injuries.
Western military experts believe Russia has about 60 such bombers, and Kyiv says it is using them to bomb targets across Ukraine.
On the other hand, German Foreign Minister Annalina Baerbock defended the attacks launched by Ukraine on the Russian capital and saw that they were by international law.
In other field developments, a spokesman for the Ukrainian General Staff, Andrei Kovalev, said that his country's forces had achieved success in their attack in the Robotino area in Zaporizhia County (south).
The spokesman explained that the Ukrainian forces advanced in the direction of Robotino, "and fixed their positions at the borders that they reached."
Washington referred to these developments. The US National Security Adviser said today that the Ukrainian forces "have made gains in the battles in the south of the country, and we will support them whatever it takes."
On the other hand, the Russian military website Rebar reported that Ukrainian forces are heavily concentrated in the northern part of Robotino, and said that Russian forces are striking Ukrainian reserve centers in the jungle areas.
On another front, Anna Malyar, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, said that her country's forces are advancing south of the city of Bakhmut, and have regained control of 3 square kilometers in the vicinity of the city in Donetsk province.
In turn, the Russian Ministry of Defense published pictures that it said were of operations to repel an attack by Ukrainian forces on the western outskirts of the city of Bakhmut after groups of Ukrainian infantry forces entered positions of Russian forces.
Russian Ministry of Defense indicated that it allowed what it described as the enemy to reach a specific line and control several sites before targeting them intensively, and that its forces confronted the remaining retreating forces and killed most of their personnel, according to the ministry's statement.
