Twitter threatens to sue Meta over Threads

 

          Twitter, owned by Elon Musk, threatened to take legal action against Mark Zuckerberg's Meta company, under whose umbrella the Facebook and Instagram platforms fall after the latter announced the launch of a new play.

noted the news from a letter sent by Twitter lawyer Alex Spiro to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

"Twitter intends to vigorously enforce its intellectual property rights and demands that Meta take immediate steps to stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information," Spiro wrote in the letter.

At a time when the Twitter platform is faltering, Zuckerberg has dealt yet another blow to Musk, the fierce competition among the leading tech billionaires, by launching the long-awaited “Threads” companion to Instagram, which is challenging “Twitter.”

The app is very similar to Twitter, it allows short text posts that users can like, repost and reply to, but it doesn't include any direct message capabilities.

A post can be up to 500 characters long and include links, images, and videos up to five minutes long, according to a blog post by Meta.
