The President of Slovakia accepts the Minister of the Interior after a dispute with the police chief over the murder of a woman

The Slovak government sacked Interior Minister Ivan Simko on Wednesday, just two months after his appointment, due to a dispute with the police chief.

Slovakia's President Zuzana Å aputova sacked Minister Simko at the request of Prime Minister Ludovit Odor, giving Odro a mandate to lead the Interior Ministry with his role as head of government.

Odro's cabinet was appointed by President Czaputova on May 15, and Simko is the first minister to be dismissed.

Simcoe's dismissal follows an argument with the police chief following the killing of a woman.

Simcoe accused the police of failing to pay enough attention to the reports and warnings from the woman's family before she was killed.

He also said on Facebook that politicians should supervise police work in a constitutional country, but the police chief interpreted these statements as an attempt to control the police.
