The arrest of a "chief's son" in money laundering investigations

    Colombian police arrested the country's president's son on Saturday as part of a high-profile investigation into money laundering he allegedly collected during last year's presidential campaign.

President Gustavo Petro said he would not interfere in the investigation after his son Nicholas was arrested.

"As an individual and a father, it pains me to see so much self-destruction and one of my sons going to prison," the president said in a message on the X platform on Twitter.

He added, "As President of the Republic, I reassured the Public Prosecution that he will obtain all guarantees so that he can work by the law."
