Russia is seeking to hold a Security Council session on the Nord Stream bombings
A senior Russian diplomat at the United Nations said on Saturday that Russia has requested a new session of the Security Council on July 11 to discuss the Nord Stream pipeline bombings that took place in September.
Russia has asked in vain to see investigations by Sweden and others into the bombings, which severely damaged pipelines across the Baltic Sea linking Russia and Germany.
"We have asked for a new open session of the UN Security Council on July 11 on the Nord Stream bombings," Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's deputy ambassador to the United Nations, said on Telegram.
Russia was unable in March to get the Security Council to request the opening of an independent investigation.
Moscow accuses the West of involvement in the bombings, which Western governments deny, as well as Ukraine, which is fighting Russian forces on its soil.
The pipeline bombings took place in the exclusive economic zones of Sweden and Denmark.
Sweden, Denmark, and Germany say their investigations are still ongoing and that Russia has been notified.
