More than 80,000 American soldiers are in Europe... Washington is strengthening its presence with 3,000 reservists

John Kirby, a strategic communications coordinator at the US National Security Council, said that the deployment of 3,000 reservists in Europe came intending to support the deployment of US forces there for a long time.
Kirby added - in an interview with the American "Fox News" station - that the forces that will be deployed are specialized in administrative functions, logistical and medical services.
"It is important to put this issue in context. We have already increased the number of our forces in Europe by 20,000, and we have been able to maintain this deployment, and we have more than 80,000 soldiers in Europe," said the US National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator.
And he continued, "As for the 3,000 reservists, they are people who specialize in administration, logistics, supply, and medicine, and these are the jobs that support and maintain the deployment of our forces for a long time... The president is aware of the fact that the security environment has changed, and we must make sure that we support our forces in the eastern wing in the long term.".
Yesterday, Thursday, US President Joe Biden described the summit between his country and the Nordic countries as "very fruitful," and pledged to protect every inch of the territory of NATO member states, including Finland.
"United States is committed to Finland, committed to NATO, and those commitments are deeply rooted," Biden said.
NATO countries participating in the Vilnius Summit, Lithuania, announced that the NATO countries will deploy additional forces in Eastern Europe, and increase their forces to the size of a brigade if the need arises.
The Secretary-General of NATO announced in late June that the alliance intends to increase the number of members of its rapid intervention forces from 40,000 to more than 300,000 soldiers.
He explained that the eight combat groups (currently located in Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Bulgaria) will be reinforced by other "predetermined" units in other NATO countries, stressing that "these measures taken together constitute the largest reform of our collective defense and presence since the Cold War ... and to do so." We must invest more."
