Finland summit...Biden and leaders of northern European countries pledge to support Ukraine "at all costs"



 US President Joe Biden and the leaders of the five Nordic countries pledged after their summit today, Thursday, in Finland, to continue supporting Ukraine "at all costs." The panel discussed security, environmental, and technology issues, and the summit came a day after the talks of NATO leaders. ) in Lithuania.

Biden added - in a press conference in the Finnish capital, Helsinki - that Russian President Vladimir Putin will eventually decide that it is not in Russia's interest to continue the war against Ukraine, adding that Moscow "cannot continue its war for years."

US President ruled out that his Russian counterpart, Putin, would use nuclear weapons after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a press interview that Moscow would consider the West's delivery of US F-16 fighter jets a "Western nuclear threat."

Biden added that it was not only the West that called for not resorting to the nuclear option but also China and the rest of the world.

After a summit between Biden, the president of Finland, and the prime ministers of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Iceland in the Finnish capital, the leaders said the Nordic countries were ready to boost their security and defense cooperation with United States.



In a speech delivered during a summit today, Thursday, US President Joe Biden said that Washington is working in cooperation with the leaders of the Nordic countries to take the necessary measures to overcome the climate crisis that threatens humanity.

Before the start of the summit, President Biden said that Finland's accession to NATO is a great asset for the alliance, which today has become stronger than ever before.

For his part, the Finnish president expressed his admiration for what he described as the unity that Biden formed between the allies and NATO and said that his country's accession marks a new era of their common security.

Finland obtained NATO membership last April to become the 31st member of the alliance, while its neighbor Sweden obtained the day before yesterday, Tuesday, Turkey's approval to join NATO.

And the American network "CNN" (CNN) stated that the security of the Arctic is among the issues raised during the summit of American and Northern European countries, in light of the Chinese and Russian presence in the pole, which has become more accessible due to climate change.

Today's summit in Helsinki is the third of its kind, as the previous two summits were held in Stockholm in 2013 and Washington in 2016.

Today's summit aims to consolidate the partnership between the United States and Northern European countries in several sectors identified by the White House in the summit's priorities, most notably security and defense, migration and refugees, climate change, energy, economic growth, and global development.
