Biden kicks off his European tour from Britain and meets Sunak and King Charles

US President Joe Biden arrives in Britain, Sunday, for a short visit during which he will meet with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and discuss issues related to climate change with King Charles III, before the upcoming North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit.
The White House indicated that the visit aims to "further strengthen the close relationship between the two countries."
For his part, Sunak said in a statement issued by his office on Saturday: "At a time when we are facing new and unprecedented challenges to our physical and economic security, our alliances have become more important than ever," while Sunak's spokesman pointed out that their discussions will likely include the "NATO" summit. Coming to the Lithuanian capital, Vilnius, on Tuesday, as well as supporting Ukraine.
Biden will visit the British government headquarters in Downing Street, Monday, for a meeting with Sunak, which is their fifth meeting, and only one month after the two parties agreed in Washington on the "Atlantic Declaration" and to work together on "advanced technology, clean energy, and important minerals."
Sunak has come a long way in improving relations with Biden, after differences of opinion on some issues during the rule of his predecessors Boris Johnson and Liz Terrace, due to their hardline position on the post-Brexit agreement with the European Union, and Johnson's close relations with former US President Donald Trump.
The most prominent part of Biden's trip will be his meeting with King Charles at Windsor Castle, west of London, where the late king's mother, Queen Elizabeth, hosted former US President Barack Obama in 2016, and former Trump in 2018.
The president and king are set to discuss "climate issues", a topic that Charles, 74, has championed for more than five decades.
After the meeting, Biden and Sunak leave Britain and head to Lithuania, where they will join the rest of the "NATO" leaders at the alliance summit. After that, Biden is expected to travel to Helsinki to meet the leaders of the Nordic countries.
